Jacob Sortino will sign with Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa to play collegiate football for the Clarke Pride. Jacob Sortino is the son of Edward and Jennifer Sortino, and the nephew of Stacy Petrin and Derek Petrin (Guardians). He has played varsity football for James Wood for two years and for two years prior at Portsmouth Christian. Some of his athletic achievements include Honorable Mention All-Conference in 2017 while also serving as captain, 2nd Team All-Area, and the coaches award his 2015 season. Over his four years of High School he has also played varsity soccer in 11th grade and varsity baseball in 9th and 10th grade where he also received the coaches award in both sports. His other school activities include membership in National Honor Society, peer mentoring, Co-President and President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Varsity Club Officer (Social Media), Spanish Club, Reading to children, Service Learning, Kenya missions trip, Puerto Rico Disaster relief missions trip, Camp Wood leader, Student Council member, Drama Club, Musical Theatre, Youth Group, Young Life, and volunteer work at the Men’s Rescue Mission. Jacob holds a 3.5 GPA and plans to study Communications.
The signing will take place on Wednesday at 3:00 PM in the James Wood library.
