Congratulations to the boys & girls team that participated at the Class 4 State meet at Liberty University. Both of the girls and boys team placed 20th overall in the states meet out of 38 teams. It has been a great season overall for the teams. We had great success for all the events throughout the season.
Boys
Both Andrew Link and Brendan Cassidy ran the 110 meter hurdles while Andrew placing 11th and Brendan placing 12th overall. Andrew Link also ran the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 39.84 which is his best performance of the season and also moved him up to the 3rd on the all time list. Brendan Cassidy ran the 300 hurdles as well placing 15th with the time of 46.45. Nathaniel Woshner placed 3rd in the 3200 meters with a time of 9:14.69 breaking his own record he set at the regionals meet. Ethan Pratt-Perez placed 16th overall in the 3200 meters with a time of 9:47.59. Liam McDonald placed 6th in the 1600 meter run with the time of 4:22.92 which is also his best performance of the season. Liam is now 6th all-time in the 1600. Liam McDonald also placed 10th overall in his 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.36 which was his best performance time for the season. Nathaniel Woshner and Ethan Pratt-Perez also participated in the 1600 meter run.

The track teams competed in the Region 4C Championships yesterday at Lightridge. Nathaniel Woshner won the 3200 meters with a time of 9:17.95 which breaks the school record held since 1978 and the regional record. Pratt-Perez, Ethan also ran the 3200 meters in 9:29.99 and both advanced to the state meet. Liam McDonald placed 8th overall in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.70. Brendan Cassidy placed 2nd in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.43 which it was his best performance of the season and advancing to the state meet. Andrew Link placed 3rd in the high hurdles as well with a time of 15.58 also his best performance of the season and will be advancing to the state meet. Andrew Link placed first in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 40.32 which it is his best performance of the season and will be advancing to the state meet. Brendan Cassidy placed 2nd in the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.43 and will be advancing to the state. The 4x4 rely team that includes Andrew Link, Brendan Cassidy, Logan McKay and Landon Burdock placed 6th with a of 3:3.49. Karim Cisse placed 8th in his long jump event with 19-07.75 feet which it is his best performance for the season. Ryan Babington placed 9th in his long jump with 19-05.25 which also his best performance for the season.

Both the Girls and Boys Team placed second overall in the Northwestern District Championships. The girls had 139 total points and the boys had 119 total points. We also had many personal records set today!
The following girls will be advancing to Regionals after placing within the top eight in today's District Championships. Olivia Boyce placed 3rd (15-0.50) and Alana Bradford placed 5th (14-7.50) in the Long Jump. Jocelyn Hempel placed 2nd (32-1.50) and Olivia Boyce placed 4th (30-10.50) in the Triple Jump. Aubrey Grove placed 3rd (111-10) and Abby Hendershot placed 7th (89-0.50) in Discus. Aubrey Grove placed 3rd (31-6) and Abby Hendershop placed 5th (30-3) in Shot Put. Lillian Lovelace placed 2nd with a personal record of 17.70 in the 100m hurdles. Also Kallie Gyurisin placed 6th (19.63) and Becky Logan placed 7th with a personal record of 30.79 in the 100m hurdles. Macey Payne placed 6th in the 100m dash with a personal record of 13.33 as well as Alana Bradford placing 8th (13.48). Lauren Beatty placed 2nd (5:16:56), Ruby Ostrander placed 5th (5:40.45), Elena Farinholt place 6th (5:42.48) and Jocelyn Kluge placed 7th with a personal record of 5:43.10 in the 1600m run. Ella Kiesewalter placed 3rd with a personal record of 1:02.56 in the 400m dash as well as Omaie Aarami placing 7th with a personal record of 1:05.78. Lillian Lovelace placed 2nd in the 300m hurdles with a personal record of 50.09 as well as Kallie Gyurisin placing 5th with a personal record of 54.42. Questzali Angel-Perez placed 2nd in the 800m run with a personal record of 2:29.64 and Ruby Ostrander placed 8th (2:35:55). Olivia Boyce placed 6th in the 200m dash with a personal record of 28.27 and Macey Payne placed 7th (28.31). Lauren Beatty placed 2nd (11:57.58), Hallie Lescalleet placed 6th with a personal record of 12:36.06 and Elena Farinholt (12:42.74) placed 7th in the 3200m run.
The 4x800 girls relay team placed 4th with 11:59:56 (Katie Kuehl, Grace Newman, Kim Saupp, Emma Woshner). The 4x100 girls relay team placed 3rd with 51.87 (Jocelyn Hempel, Olivia Boyce, Macey Payne, Alana Bradford). The 4x400 girls relay team placed 3rd with 4:30:87 (Ella Kiesewalter, Lillian Lovelace, Kameron Strosnider, Jocelyn Hempel).

Brendan Cassidy placed 2nd in the 110m hurdles (15.71) listing him in the state top 50 and Casey Floyd placed 7th (18.94). Nathaniel Woshner (2nd,4:20.24) set a personal record, State qualified and listed in the state top 25 in the 1600m run as well as Ethan Pratt-Perez (4th,4:23.90), and Liam McDonald (5th,4:24.28) both set personal records, State qualified and listed in the state top 50. Brendan Cassidy placed 2nd (51.80) and Landon Burdock placed 8th with a personal record of 54.63 in the 400m dash. Casey Floyd placed 3rd in the 300m hurdles with a personal record of 44.39 and Logan McKay placed 4th (44.52). Liam McDonald placed 3rd in the 800m run with a personal record of 1:58.68 and listed in the state top 50. Zach Smith placed 8th in the 200m Dash with 24.38. Nathaniel Woshner placed 1st (9:50.82) and Ethan Pratt-Perez placed 2nd (9:52:24) in the 3200m run.
The boys 4x100m relay team placed 4th with 46.81 (Nolan Cornwell, Karim Cisse, Elijah Richards, Zach Smith). The boys 4x400 relay team placed 2nd with 3:36.16 (Andrew Link, Landon, Burdock, Williams Andrews, Brendan Cassidy).

The Girls Team had Aubrey Grove place 2nd in discus with 113-9, as well as MacKenzie Sine placing 7th with 85-5 qualifying her for Districts, and Ainsley Lescalleet placing 10th with 81-6. MacKenzie Sine also qualified for Districts and placed 5th in Shot Put with a personal record of 31-2 and Aubrey Grove placed 7th with 30-10.25, Elena Farinholt placed 7th with 5:30.88 in the 1600 meter run. Lauren Beatty had a personal record of 2:25.24 and placed 5th in the 800 meters.
The Boys Team had Nathaniel Woshner place 1st and qualified for states in the 1600 meter run with 4:27.90, followed by Ethan Pratt-Perez placing 2nd with a personal record of 4:29:64 and qualifying for Regionals, as well as Danilo Rincon setting a personal record of 4:56:61. Brendan Cassidy placed 7th in the High Jump with 5'4". Nathaniel Woshner also placed 5th in the boys 800 meters with a state-qualifying time of 1:59.45 and Liam McDonald placed 6th with a region-qualifying time of 2:00:07.
The track teams will compete in the district championships on Wednesday at Fauquier.

The Girls Track and Field team won first place against Kettle Run and Liberty with a total of 106 points. Our first place finishers were Alana Bradford (100m Dash, 13.41) as well as 2nd place in the long jump with 13-09.50, Kallie Gyurisin (100m hurdles, 18.98), Lillian Lovelace (300m hurdles, 51.42), Omaie Aarami (400m Dash, 1:06.81), Jocelyn Kluge (1600m run, 5:44.76), Aubrey Grove (Girls Discus, 116-06), Olivia Boyce (Long Jump, 14-00) who also placed 2nd in the Triple Jump with 29-06.00, Jocelyn Hempel (Triple Jump, 31-07.00) and all three relay teams. Second place finishers were Macey Payne (100m Dash 13.71, 200m Dash 29.30), Rebecca Logan (100m Hurdles, 21.11), Kallie Gyurisin (400m Dash 1:07.07), Emma Woshner (800m run, 2:42.93), Hallie Lescalleet (3200m run, 12:40.77), Abigail Hendershot (Discus 87-09 & Shot Put 30-11.50). Several athletes placed 3rd, Autumn Van Bremen in the 100m Hurdles, Rebecca Logan in the 300m Hurdles, Ryan Oliver in the 3200m run, Ainsley Lescallet in Discus, Jocelyn Hempel in the Long Jump, and MacKenzie Sine in Shot Put.

Our first place finishers were Andrew Link (100m dash, 11.84) as well as placing 2nd in the 400m dash (52.89), Logan McKay (300 Hurdles, 44.42), Lawrence Gittrich (3200m run, 11:55.46), Nolan Cornwell (Triple Jump 37-03.00) and our boys 4x400m relay with William Andrews, Landon Burdock, Casey Floyd and Logan McKay. Second place finishers were Zachary Smith (200m Dash, 24.08), Brendan Cassidy (High Jump, 5-06.00), Brandon Waters (Shot Put, 39-03.50), Ryan Babington (Triple Jump, 36-09.00). Our third place finishers were Zachary Smith in the 100m Dash, Karim Cisse in the 200m Dash, Landon Burdock in the 400m Dash, Will Simko in the 1600 meter dash, Ryan Babington in the High Jump, and Karim Cisse in the Long Jump. The boys 4x400mA relay team won 1st place and the 4x400m relay placed 2nd. The 4x100m relay team with Alex Hua, Robert Dwyer, Jayse Dailey, and Chase Lockley.

The James Wood Boy's Track and Field team placed 3rd out of 18 teams at the Apple Blossom Invitational. Brendan Cassidy led the team winning the 400m dash with a time of 51.24 and placed 2nd in the 110 Hurdles. Liam McDonald also had a great day by placing 2nd in the 800m run and 4th in the 1600m run. Andrew Link won the 300m Hurdles with a 40.48 and qualified for States. Nathaniel Woshner won the 3200m run with a time of 9:43.36. Ethan Pratt-Perez finished 3rd in the 3200m run. Additional athletes earning points for the team; Zachary Smith(6th,200m), Logan McKay(7th,300H), and Karim Cisse(8th,LJ).

Boy's Track and Field Results
Our hurdlers led the team again with Andrew Link winning the 110H with 16.23 and Casey Floyd coming in second. Logan McKay won the 300H with 43.54. Casey Floyd placed second and Karim Cisse third. Karim Cisse also placed second in the Long Jump. Colton Staneart won the 800 meter run with 2:19.89, and placed third in the Discus. Brendan Cassidy won the 200 meter dash with 23.73. Danilo Rincon ran a 5:01.84 to win the 1600 meter run. Ryan Babington and Nolan Cornwell placed second and third in the Triple Jump. Zachary Smith placed second in Shot Put. Luke Wood placed third in the 800 meter run. In the 400 meter dash, Landon Burdock placed second and Nathaniel Woshner, third. Our 4x100 meter relay team of Keith Lessard, Chase Lockley, Chris Linares, and Ryen Knotts won first place. Our 4x400 meter relay of William Andrews, Chris Linares, Harry Nichols, and Landon Burdock also won first place.

The James Wood boys' Track and Field team competed well at the Handley Invitational, which had 34 teams competing. The team was led by our hurdlers. Andrew Link won the 300m hurdles and qualified for Regionals with a 41.51. He also placed 4th in the 110m hurdles. Brendan Cassidy placed 3rd in the 110m hurdles and 7th in the 400m dash. Logan McKay placed 8th in the 300m hurdles. Our 4x800m relay team of Eli Clark. Liam McDonald, Ethan Pratt-Perez, and Nathaniel Woshner won first place with a Regional qualifying time. The boys' team ended 5th overall with a total of 37 points.

Boy's Track Results from Ram Invitational
The James Wood Boys' Track and Field team placed second in the Ram Invitational this past Saturday. We had 7 PR's, 1 Regional qualifier, and 2 State qualifiers despite the weather. Nathaniel Woshner won the 3200 and qualified for States with Ethan Pratt-Perez following in 2nd, also with a State qualifying time. Brendan Cassidy placed 1st in the 300 Hurdles and qualified for Regionals. The 4x400 relay of Brendan Cassidy, Logan McKay, Nolan Cornwell, and Andrew Link wrapped up the meet with a win.
